Inside the city limits of Wait Park, we have a population of about 8,500 people. Of course, as part of the St Cloud urban area, that number changes constantly, with nearby residents moving to new homes on either side of the official city boundaries. We also have a large population of natural wildlife in the Quarry Park Natural Area, including red-shouldered hawks, wild deer, and landscaping goats, which help keep the area free of tasty invasive plants.

Waite Park may be best known for the Quarry Park Natural Area, a nature reserve that protects an endangered orchid blossom and a beautiful expanse of wilderness in the heart of urbanized America. There are many beautiful nature trails for hiking, biking, and camping. There are a few rock-climbing sites, great fishing spots, and even a few natural swimming holes to enjoy when the weather is warm.

Enjoy the History

Waite Park was founded in the 1800s, and there is still a lot of history to discover here. The town began as the land of Henry Chester Waite, a local state legislator. Travelers crossing the Sauk River deemed it Waite's Crossing. Soon, a village grew in the location. A post office was established in 1897, and it has been a community ever since.
